AHRC and BFI search for filmmakers and consultant for new films about the NHS

Applications close 15 December, 4pm UK time.

The National Health Service (NHS) turns 75 in 2023. To mark this moment AHRC is funding a new public engagement scheme, ‘NHS Untold Film Stories’, in partnership with the British Film Institute (BFI).
We are looking for emerging filmmakers and an arts and humanities researcher to deliver around three new film projects between March and November 2023. The new films must be inspired by, or make creative use of, the BFI National Archive’s NHS on Film collection.
You can find out more about the scheme in our Zoom webinar for prospective applicants on 22 November 2022, 2-3pm.

Filmmakers
We are looking to support around three emerging filmmakers with grants of up to £20,000 each, to create short films inspired by the BFI’s NHS on Film Archive. You will be expected to engage diverse audiences and communities in the filmmaking process and via a local screening.
Applications close 15 December, 4pm UK time.

We are also looking for an arts and humanities researcher who can work as a consultant on the films in collaboration with the BFI’s National Archive Senior Curator. We are offering a grant of up to £10,000 for an academic consultant.
Applications close 15 December, 4pm UK time.
