MMRN 1st Annual Conference

Our inaugural conference, on the broad theme of ‘Music Adversity’, will be held on Monday 19 – Tuesday 20 April 2021.

Among the many challenges we have faced during this time, the question of the role of music in society has once again emerged. These questions are not new, as music has constantly faced adversity of many forms. Proposals are welcomed, but not limited to, themes such as the relationship between music and:

• Economic Adversity
• War and Conflict
• Physical and Mental Illness
• Dispersion and Migration
• Grief, Loss, and Trauma

We also welcome submissions that discuss the impact of the pandemic on particular research projects, as well as work that offers broader perspectives on music research.

We welcome submissions for individual papers, panels, and posters.

Deadline for submissions: Sunday 14th February 2021  (please send all enquiries and submissions to midsmusicnetwork@gmail.com).
