Thesis title:

Queer Women in the East Midlands c.1967-2000: Experience, Space and Identity.

I am studying LGBTQ+ history in the East Midlands from c.1967 to c.2000. I am passionate about the interconnectedness of space, place and identity. My work explores how local, national and global geographies influence LGBTQ+ individuals and groups as well as how ideas are exchanged and transformed in place-based activism. I am also investigating the relationship between LGBTQ+ people and the state from 1980 to 2000. I am committed to the use of inclusive theoretical frameworks in my research and hope that my thesis brings to light the diversity and creativity of LGBTQ+ activist groups in the East Midlands.
