Thesis title:

Home sweet home: artistic exploration of Jamaican migration and gender transitioning to generate new understandings of home

In Paul B. Preciado’s book An Apartment on Uranus, Paul B. Preciado writes that ‘Sex change and migration are two practices that…place a living human body inside the limits of citizenship’. This research interrogates the ways in which both Jamaican migrants and transgender people are making versions of home for themselves through codes, cultural practices, folklore, and domestic objects, whilst challenging these governed borders of place and body.
