Thesis title:

Femicide in the UK (2013-2023): An Intersectional Analysis of Thematic and Episodic Media Framing

Through the examination of thematic and episodic frames used in news media, my research considers the framing of victims and perpetrators of femicide in the UK from 2013 to 2023. In my analysis, I will examine news coverage through the lenses of sensationalism and tabloidisation, as well as the prevalence of ‘true crime’ narratives. Using an intersectional approach, I will investigate how perceptions of race, class, age, and gender identity shape media coverage of femicide.
