Thesis title:

Representations of Disabled Characters in Contemporary Upper Middle-Grade Children's Literature

My project examines the representation of disabled protagonists in contemporary children’s (focusing on upper middle-grade) and YA literature, exploring the societal impact of any dearth and routes withing the publishing industry to redress the balance.

The creative part of my project is a full length novel featuring a protagonist who is a teenage girl with Down syndrome.
